RampUp Signage

In the chaotic world of event management, session times shift, rooms change, and speakers are constantly dropped or added. This chaos presented an opportunity to scale, flex, and slash design time to fractions.

Impact

Working with the web dev team, I devised an automated process that pulled event details from the RampUp website into a CSV file, which was then used to populate InDesign signage templates.

Efficiency at scale

From session information to conference schedules to wayfinding, event signage is extensive—and ever-changing. In the weeks leading up to RampUp, designers were constantly updating those changes manually, which was not only tedious, but time-consuming and prone to error, too.

One of my major RampUp wins was working with the web dev team to pull agenda data from the conference website into a CSV file. That CSV file got linked to the InDesign signage templates I had built out with GREP styles and variables, enabling text to scale up or down at defined breakpoints.

Poof. Hundreds of digital and print signs could be generated and regenerated with a few keystrokes.
